Its official I am an Award winning Avant Garde Wedding Photographer!

Not one to usually like blowing my own trumpet, but I am over the SUPER FULL SONIC MOON that we are experiencing tonight, so much so that I am going to TOOT MY OWN TUNE from the rooftops!

I am very pleased to announce that I have received my first GOLD Award from the SWPP (Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers) in the Wedding Avant Garde category, for this image of Anna & Katie at The Brighton Royal Pavilion.

It means the absolute world to me to be recognised for my work and following my two Merited images at the annual SWPP convention last January, it is the icing on the cake for me to receive a Gold Award in this category. I do consider myself an alternative, leftfield photographer and I strive where possible to do things differently, which isn’t easy in the competitive world of Weddings let me tell you!

But why (I’m asking myself) stop with just the icing?! – I have no reasonable answer to this, so now I have my sights firmly set on the ‘CHERRY’ at the SWPP Annual convention in London in January 2017, where I have been invited to speak on the subject of Gay Weddings. I will be holding a 2 hour Masterclass for other Professional and semi-Pro Photographers on the subject and I am currently head down / arse up (i.e very busy) preparing my talk.

So where is the CHERRY I hear you ask? .. ok well along with conducting my Masterclass I am striving to achieve my Associateship qualification with the SWPP. To do this I have to submit a panel of 20 images for public critique given live at the convention itself (no pressure!) I will also be submitting some of my images into the 20×16 print compeition and if I am lucky enough to receive an Award (like last year) my images will be displayed on the Award winning wall at the convention. To be invited to speak at one of the biggest photographic conventions in the world is truly an honour and I am ridiculously excited, ecstatic as well as nervous as hell at the prospect!

The opportunities presented before me at this time have the prospect of placing me on a larger international stage and although I don’t feel completely qualified to be there, I am going to give it 110% in all areas & basically fake it till I make it, then absolutely BAKE IT! Cos’ there’s no viable alternative… (& its just how I like to do things!)

So this Super Sonic full moon I will pay homage and say thank you for my blessings I have in my life at this time of which they are present in pure abundance!

Without getting too cosmic.. Thank you Universe.
