It’s only Morry and Luke’s engagement shoot!
Who could forget the gorgeous Morry & Luke who were the luckiest guys in the world to win our Gay Times sponsored ‘Big Day Wedding Day’ earlier this year?
Well the boys have been sooo busy putting all the plans in place for their big day next April, their feet have literally not touched the ground since! We caught up recently when they came to Brighton to visit all the wonderful suppliers involved including The Royal Pavilion, The Proud Ballroom, Miss Moles Flower Emporium, Cakes beyond belief, Lamberts Live dove release and of course yours truly, who has the humble task of capturing all the pre/post & wedding day proceedings!
So whilst the boys were here, of course I took the opportunity to get them used to being photographed; a very important consideration if you are not so used to being in front of a lens, or if you are like 95% of my clients and straight up HATE the camera!
This is addressed in an earlier post of mine which explains the pro’s (no con’s!) of an engagement shoot, to literally de-mystify the whole process and to give you some all-important practise before the day. Lets face it, you brides & grooms to-be have more than enough on your plate to be thinking about, let alone battling with nerves about how you might look in the photographs!
So we bounced around town, starting at the beach and the colourful beach huts which always look amazing and are SOOOOO Brighton!
From there we took it to the street and managed to find some cool as fU$k back alleys to play silly games in… (the boys did of course not me!) The street art in Brighton is some of the best in the south east and provides me with an inspiring backdrop in which to pose-not-pose my clients, giving any image the artistic edge! Yes place ANYONE against a wicked grafitti backdrop and they rise to the top of the cool stakes… even my Dad does – trust me I’ve already tried it!
We started our street shoot at the incredible wall above, which you can find at The Prince Albert pub on Gloucester road, a masterpiece created by the local graf artist legend that is REQ who cleverly paints lifelike images of rock icons who have sadly passed, but WHAT a fitting tribute?! I salute you Sir Req your talent is unsurpassed!
So off we skipped to the back streets and whilst there I threw a few pointers at the lads (of the sharp and painful kind) -ok joke! – just to give them techniques and ideas to make the shoot on their day run ever so natural like!
Of course Morry & Luke being Luke & Morry, came up with several ideas and anecdotes of their own, which added perfectly to the moment and ultimately the resulting collection of images. So I was lucky enough to have the privilege of capturing two beautiful boys head over heels for one another prior, to the biggest day of their lives! I always remind myself what a great job I have… However the fact they were ringing each others neck by the end of it (lovingly!) tells me its going to be one helluva ride between these two… so sit back, relax and breathe… and get excited, get very very excited for THE wedding of 2018! Its going to be an absolute dream!!!
